Techniques

The techniques of WASP are designed to be effective, efficient and rely on gross motor movements as complex techniques would not be remembered or could be applied during the heat of high intensity combat. Unlike other self-defense courses ours is not attack specific like a martial arts class but very scenario based. This sort of training allows the defender to deal with an attack without having to figure out what the attack is. Besides physical technical training we spend time to develop mental strategies as well, such as understanding survival stress and building on intuition and violence detection and avoidance and so much more.
Some Techniques Include:
- The art of fighting dirty
- Escaping from a grab
- Escaping from a head lock
- Escaping from a bear hug
- Escaping from the ground
- Escaping from a choke
- Escaping from a pin against an object
- Dealing with aggression
- Pressure point skills
- Understanding pain compliance
- Creating impact
- Defending from a push, punch or kick
- The psychology of self-defense
- And much, much more
